Round up 2021

What a year…..

This year in terms of my hobby had taken a new turn after over a decade of the norm with Gamesworkshop products. From early this year I was planning to build my HH Iron Hands project and my Doom of Molech AT project. These two would very suddenly stop when I committed my time towards my Fallout Wasteland Warfare collection.

Then the rest of the year was largely dedicated to FWW due to my keen interest in the hobby and setting. The last GW miniatures that I brought that wasn’t a few paints, two White Dwarf magazines and one weekly miniature magazine based product was two Adeptus Titanicus Knight sets back in March.

As of late 2021 I’ve gone to second hand GW army books and miniature products, both to save money and expand my hobby possibilities. RT, 3rd ed 40k, Warhammer Fantasy, Dreadfleet, anything I can find really.

2022 will be a very fun time indeed if I ever get around to, say for example, 4th ed Warhammer Fantasy Dwarf drunk adventuring goblin hunters.

Best of 2021

My second Gundam, the MS Deathscythe has been a childhood nostalgia of the late 90’s to early 2000’s, all because of a VHS tape in a video store that I thought was a Transformers series. Despite my lack of knowledge and child minded stupidity, I wouldn’t regret my choice for choosing that cover of Gundam Wing vol 2 showing Duo Maxwell and his MS. I used to have the none graded kit of Deathsythe back in the day, but sadly it was a wreck due to my very young age and not being able to build it to completion.

Fast forward to 2021 and I decided to put aside my FWW project work for a month working on my Gunpla, HG MS Deathscythe. I got this during a time when I had lost someone personally during a very draining and messed up time, returning to a place I thought I’d left behind.

The kit itself was a joy to build from start to finish. I’d be more than happy to go for another Gunpla kit in 2022! πŸ˜€

Fallout Wasteland Warfare

2021 was very much full of FWW projects, my Instagram page is full of FWW posts!

It would take me a while to go over everything (and trust me, If I did go on my poor grammar and repetitive habits will bore you to death…) so I’ve done a simple list of what I’ve been doing:

  • Completed a two arc NCR narrative settlement series set in Bonnie Springs
  • Collected factions to a 500pt minimum caps including NCR, Caesar’s Legion, Supermutants, Minutmen, BoS, Independent characters and my own fan made faction the Frontier Alliance
  • Scratch built TONS of scenery and made my own 2×3 gaming board
  • Started making my own fan made character gaming cards to use in games of FWW
  • Building and planning my next wargaming series starting in 2022

I went from a long time GW hobbyist to ditching that addictive hobby for the Boomers of Vault 34. Jk

Expect plenty of more FWW in 2022 as I slowly build up my New Vegas collection, as well as the upcoming Commonwealth Wave (I’ll only be picking a few sets from that range).

Adeptus Titanicus

As mentioned earlier, I started my Adeptus Titanicus collection back in March. Though not much progress has been made since then. I think my collection so far looks great despite its small gathering.

The lost post

One of my many projects behind the scenes as I refined my collections, the Blood Pact unification was a homage to the faction of the same name in the long running BL series, Gaunts Ghost by Dan Abnett. Why didn’t I post this lot? Well, after GW did the whole fan animation Policy changes as well as other questionable changes and decisions, I was put off posting this project.

I found a new hobby in FWW which has made me more happier in life with a strong and welcoming community. GW isn’t worth ranting, better to find a hobby worth your time and happiness.

In 2022…

In a couple of days time I’ll be prepared for a new year with new miniature goals, new ideas and even a new hobby to show too! Hopefully I’ll have more to say when I’m certain and ready to post my work! πŸ™‚

That all for today. I wish I could say more on the subject but I’m not that great at expressing myself in long form. I hope your year has been a great one and awaiting 2022 with a fresh start.

Many thanks and a happy new year,

-34th Tribe

  1. A very productive year mate. I love that Deathscythe and would love to see more Gundam models from you. I’d never really seen the fall out minis before and I’ve really enjoyed seeing your posts on insta with them. They’re cool sculpts and I can tell you’ve really immersed yourself in that project. Happy new year mate and I look forward to seeing more cool things from you in 2022

    1. Thanks! πŸ™‚
I’d go all in for another Gundam, that’s if I can pick a kit without second thoughts on many other hobby products haha. I’ve done two HG kits so far, so I may try out an RG or MG grade kit next if I can find a particular set in the UK.

Its been a fresh and enjoyable venture going into Fallout Wasteland Warfare. Its ticked many boxes for what I wanted in a miniature hobby. The community is fantastic, the company is awesome and the entry into the hobby is very accessible.

I’d totally recommend giving FWW a shot as they’re a range of kits I think you’ll like to kitbash into Mad Max or Turnip28 projects.

Speaking of Turnips, I did a bit of light research on the subject about its creation and its theme. I wouldn’t mind trying out a month themed on Turnip28 using some Peninsular War inspired warband. 2022 gonna be chock full of stuff I’m sure haha πŸ˜€.

A happy new year to you too! πŸ™‚

  2. Nice work all around! Going from Gundam to Fallout is pretty cool in my book as I built a few Gundam when I was a young man and had a great time with them. The amount of Fallout stuff you’ve painted is impressive and so is the gaming world you’ve created for New Vegas. I think Modiphius has been great in how they interact with fans and I think they’re more in tune with what their fans want and don’t use FOMO like GW often resorts to which I appreciate too. Like IRO said, I’ll be curious to see where you go in 2022! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you! πŸ™‚

I’ve got a draft list of ideas and planned projects for 2022. I’ll still be continuing FWW for sure in 2022! πŸ™‚

Aye, GW in 2021 has caused a list of many issues including FOMO. Honestly I’m happy to see Modiphius, Warlord Games and many other companies who at lesst respect their target audience.

      Happy new year! πŸ™‚
